I have known Gineen the owner, for several years now and we recently teamed up for a couple of style shoots. I started in the wedding industry planning & coordinating my first wedding in 2006. After a hiatus, a wedding in 2014 brought me back to the industry where I started Cargo & Co Events. Last year, I decided a natural addition to the brand were gowns and formalwear as many of my clients often asked for recommendations on what to wear and where to go! We are in downtown Durham NC located at 125 E. Parrish Street and we have officially been in business a year! Over the past year, we’ve seen so many of our brides go from Miss to Mrs., our Grooms saunter down the aisle in their tuxedos and Bridesmaids and Flower girls light up the aisle in their wedding day apparel and it’s been a blast.
The boutique is named after my two sons Gavin (6) and John Christian (9). Naming the boutique after them was a way to show them a physical result of mommy’s long hours spent away from working l as an entrepreneur in the wedding industry.
We have a mix of styles from glam to understated and really like to have offering s for the bride that wants the perfect mix of glitz and glamour. We carry several designer lines and also indie designer lines and private labels with samples ranging from a street size 4 to 32.
We approach bridal from a calm, yet passionate position. We are appointment based so that we can dedicate time to our clients and their bride tribe in a one-on-one setting so the focus is on you and not who just said “YES” next to you. We simply tell you recommended best practices and let the client make the decision. As we also plan weddings, we’re familiar with many wedding venues and can help you think fully about your vision based on the details of your venue. We have great relationships with wedding vendors and can make slight recommendations or connections to other needs you have for your wedding day in a pinch. Planning is under Cargo & Co. Events and is a separate service, however, we don’t like to see any bride or groom in a bind! Many bridal boutique clients turn into wedding planning clients after their positive in shop experience and we love to see the full event through!
Anything from Mermaid to Ballgown, Sheath to Fit & Flare. We also are able to make recommendations on options to customize and fully personalize your gown with our in-house preferred seamstress.
Create a Pinterest board or screenshot images of things you love for inspiration. Make an appointment to shop so that you can be serviced with purpose. Order your gown at least 6-8 months in advance of your wedding day to allow for any designer snafus, shipping delays and time for alterations without being stressed about timelines. Keep an open mind. We’ve seen tons of Ballgown only brides turn into Mermaid lovers right before our eyes!
