After a few weeks of getting to know each other, they met in person for the first time—sharing dinner followed by a fun night of games at Dave & Buster’s. Nearly two years later, just days before their anniversary, Brandon planned a thoughtful surprise at Duke Gardens. What was meant to be a simple walk turned into a beautifully orchestrated proposal. He arranged for a professional photographer to capture the moment and included meaningful details like music, flowers, and a custom sign he designed himself. As an engineer, Brandon created a truly unique element—carving “Will you marry me?” into granite, a piece that would later become part of their home.

Although the proposal took place on a hot July afternoon, the moment was unforgettable. After celebrating briefly, the couple headed to Tap Station in Apex for a well-deserved drink before calling family and friends to share the exciting news. In a humorous twist, the evening concluded with a quick return home so homework could be completed—something they still laugh about today.
