We are excited to feature Melanie & Darrell’s UNC Chapel Hill Engagement Session at Kenan Stadium and on the campus of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. We had the opportunity to photograph their engagement session back in June. It seems like yesterday, we were discussing their wedding details for their upcoming wedding at the Grand Marquis Ballroom. Melanie was finishing school at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, as her and fiance’ Darrell were getting ready to transition their move to Charleston, South Carolina. We are looking forward to working with the amazing Raleigh wedding planner Elana Walker Events for their big day. Getting to know our clients is one of perks of being a wedding photographer, having the opportunity to know them on a personal level and hearing “The Love Story” is something we always cherish. Melanie and Darrell’s engagement session was one to remember, look at those outfits :-).  Take a look at Darrell’s marriage proposal to Melanie and a few of our favorite images from their UNC Engagement Shoot. The Proposal:

Early in the fall, Melanie & Darrell decided to go ring shopping after discussing an engagement in the near future.  Melanie insistently dropped hints about the type of engagement ring she wanted. When Christmas came around, Melanie anxiously awaited the proposal, but the time just wasn’t right and she began to believe Darrell just wasn’t ready yet.  After being apart for New Year’s Eve, Darrell decided to take Melanie out for a nice private dinner on New Year’s Day at McCormick and Schmick’s. After reflecting on the previous year they spent together, Darrell and Melanie were preparing to wrap up dinner for the night and patiently waited for the waitress to return.  After waiting about ten minutes, Melanie asked “Is she every coming back?”  Darrell then got up from the table and approached the hostess booth; thinking Darrell went to complain about the waitress. Melanie quickly motioned him back to the table to avoid trouble.  Little did Melanie know, Darrell approached the hostess to ask her to take pictures of the proposal. Darrell returned to the table, got down on one knee and asked Melanie to marry him.  Melanie began laughing not because of the proposal, but because she thought Darrell and the hostess returned to discuss the waitress’ poor service. After Melanie realized what had happened, she quickly said “Yes, of course!”  When the waitress finally returned to the table, she realized what occurred and gifted Melanie and Darrell with a delicious desert to end the night.
